Schneider is a 1980 graduate of Midland Lutheran College, majoring in Teacher Education with a physical education endorsement. He was a four year letter winner and co-captain of the 1979 Warrior team that finished the regular season undefeated and qualified for the NAIA National Playoffs.
He earned is M.A. degree in Health, Physical Education and Recreation with an emphasis in Exercise Science from the University of Nebraska at Omaha in 1985. Schneider brings 25 years of collegiate coaching and administrative experience to Peru State College. He served as an assistant football coach at Midland from 1981- 1991. In 1992 he was promoted to Head Football Coach and Athletic Director. He served 10 years as head football coach and his teams were traditionally in the upper half of the NIAC, now GPAC conference, often ranked nationally, finishing in the NAIA top 10 in 1994. Schneider relinquished his head football duties in 2002 to focus on a 9 million dollar athletic facility up grade serving as the project manager and lead fundraiser. He returned to the sideline coordinating the offense for Midland in 2005 thru 2007.

A member of the Bobcat staff since 2008, Coach Varley also serves as the Recruiting Coordinator for PSC football.
Coach Varley earned his bachelor's degree in math education from UNL in 1974 and his mater's in education administration from UNK in 2005. His family includes: wife Cindy, son Lucas and his wife Chisa, son Patrick, and daughters Emilie and Kelsie.
